Larochette<\/h1>\n

and its castle<\/h2>\n

Larochette, called “Fiels” in Luxembourg language, lies in the valley of the White Ernz.\u00a0 Even though it is quite small, it is no village, due to the castle it has obtain city-rights long time ago.<\/p>\n

Already in the last century, Larochette was a popular place for travellers.\u00a0 And the castle, the rock formations, the romantic place “Bleech”\u00a0 and the neoroman church lost nothing of their charm.<\/p>\n

The restored castle of Larochette is worth a visit, in fact it is a twin-castle dating from the 13th century.\u00a0 Preservation works on the ruins started 1979.\u00a0 During excavations at the original dungeon, remnants of a late-Celtic settlement were found.<\/p>\n

The countryside is as beautiful as ever, too.\u00a0 Even those who don’t really like walking will enjoy a stroll through the magnificent woods, like through the Manzebach valley, from Ernzen to the romantic Meysembourg castle. Different walking maps are available at the reception of Camping Auf Kengert.<\/p>\n

There is also a new museum about textiles, which tells the fascinating story of the rich history of the textile industry. The museum is housed in a historic building that once served as the baggage hall for the former train and offers visitors insight into the traditional techniques and machines used in textile production. Additionally, there is a second exhibition where visitors can get acquainted with the contemporary textile industry, under the motto “Rethink Your Clothes”.
